Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony
The Clay County Board of County Commissioners and the TAPS Committee are partnering to host a 51st anniversary remembrance of the end of the Vietnam War, and you are welcome to attend!
The ceremony will recognize, honor, and thank our Vietnam veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice during one of the longest wars in our country’s history. We are proud and thankful that National Vietnam War Veterans Day was recently approved as a national day of recognition for men and women who served but did not receive a proper welcome home. We see you, and we welcome you home!
The event will take place at the TAPS Monument, which pays tribute to Clay County residents who died in battle from the Civil War to present. Fun fact - Craig was commissioned to design and erect the monument back in 2015.
The Navy Band ensemble will perform at this public event, and our own Craig Seaton will play a patriotic medley as part of the festivities. The ceremony will include recognition of Vietnam veterans, regional guest speakers, touching tributes, a wreath laying, the reading of names on the monument, and music.
