William Taylor, 83, of Jacksonville FL, passed away on January 15, 2026 at home. William was born on April 21, 1942 in Hillsboro, WI, the son of William H. and Vilda (Elliott) Taylor. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years as a flight engineer. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as traveling. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Jaguars.

William was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Taylor of 59 years and brothers, Lloyd (Josey) Taylor and Bernard Taylor.

He is survived by his 3 children, Jeri (David) Poquette, Vicki Long and Randy Taylor; brothers, Dannie (Josephine) Taylor and Marvin (Nancy) Taylor; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Chase) Weyer, Cody, Candace, Kimmie, Caitlin and Ben; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Ashton and Lexi.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Jim Joiner officiating.

The burial with full military honors will be held at 9:30am on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
