William Austin Jeffers, born June 19th, 1941, passed on September 15th, 2026, at the age of 85 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Doctors Inlet, Florida to the late Doris L. Cercy and Henry Austin Jeffers. William will be remembered as a beloved and devoted husband, father and Papa, a faithful member of his church, and a man whose hardworking hands and thoughtful heart quietly shaped the lives and places around him. His steady presence, wise counsel, and compassionate spirit were a source of strength to those who knew him, and his generous, selfless way of living remains an enduring example.
William was a builder of residential and commercial properties, constructing homes in North Carolina and Clay County. His work reflected both skill and care – marked by perseverance, integrity, and the kind of brave determination that meets each day’s demands without complaint. With no idle hands, he also found purpose and satisfaction in woodworking, bringing patience and craftsmanship to all he made.
For more than 20 years, William was a faithful member of Clay Hill Church of God, where his life of service and devotion spoke as clearly as any words. In the routines of work, worship, and home, he offered an inspirational model of constancy – one grounded in love, generosity, and a deep regard for others.
William is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 28 years, Irish Imogene Jeffers; children, Debbie Ayeers, Donna (John) Ayers, William Kenneth Jeffers, Kathie (Dale) Rodgers, Theresa (Barney) Newman and Eric (Janis) Hearn; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Clay Hill Church of God on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026 at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Crawley officiating. The family will received friends beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery.
