William Fredrick (Freddie) Brown, 80, of Green Cove Springs, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2025, surrounded by his family. Freddie was born on December 22nd, 1945, in Wallace, North Carolina to Hubert and Elsie Brown. 

Freddie grew up with grease under his nails and a wrench in his hand and went on to become a well-known mechanic throughout the community for his honesty, skill, and willingness to help anyone with a broken-down car. Freddie could diagnose and fix just about anything with four wheels. He spent 14 years in the Army National Guard, which he dearly enjoyed and told many stories about his time in the Guard. He loved fast cars and working on side projects at his home shop in his free time. Freddie also had a green thumb and enjoyed growing his own peppers to make Datil Sauce. He loved back country road driving, mountain views, and exploring new places. Above all, Freddie was a devoted family man, hardworking, and always ready with a joke or a helping hand. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Burnice Plumlee Brown; children Sherry (Jason) Boree; grandchildren Trenton (Julia), Kaitlin and Wyatt Jenner; Caden and Kenley Brown; great grandchild Jasper Jenner; sibling Jack Brown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Elsie; his son, Lil Freddie Brown; brothers, Doug and Mack Brown; and sister, Marcie Mueller. 

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M, at Broadus Raines Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
