In Loving Memory of Wanda Jean Herrington Pittman of Orange Park, FL. Jean passed away July 7, 2026. She was born in Millen, GA, on March 15, 1948. She was the second of six children of the late Julian Roan and Kathryn Powell Herrington of Sardis, GA.

Jean’s early childhood was spent in Sardis, around her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Later, her family moved to Savannah, GA, where she met her husband, Ernest, through a mutual friend. During Jean and Ernie’s marriage, they lived in Savannah, Orlando, Tallahassee, Atlanta and Orange Park, FL. Their children, Lori and Paul, both born in Tallahassee, now live in Orange Park and Jacksonville, respectively.

Jean devoted her early years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother, later working for many years in the family business alongside her husband, Ernie. Her life was defined by her devotion to family, and she cherished every moment shared with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She enjoyed art, crafting, restoring vintage antiques, gardening, cooking, and sharing her talents with the little ones. She will be remembered for her kindness toward everyone, her enduring patience, her deep-rooted family values, and her unconditional love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother, David Herrington; her older sister, Judy Cannon (Billy); and son-in-law, Michael Gilmore (Lori).

Jean is survived by Ernie, her husband of 61 years; her daughter, Lori Gilmore; grandson David Gilmore (Katie) and great granddaughter Phoebe; grandson Daniel Gilmore and great grandson Abel; her son, Paul Pittman (Michelle) and granddaughter Maya; her sister, Kaye Forehand (Dewayne); her brother, Jack Herrington (Andrea); her sister, Stephanie Hobbs; brother-in-law Billy Cannon; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jean’s favorite Bible verse was the 23rd Psalm. Please read it in remembrance of her.

A Memorial Service in honor of Jean’s life will be held at a later date.
