Virgil G. Jones, 64, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. Born on February 23, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the beloved son of John Paul and Elizabeth Virginia Jones.
A proud graduate of Clay High School in 1979, Virgil served honorably in the U.S. Army and Florida National Guard. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication, working at Associated Minerals, driving for Kirker Inc., and later becoming the owner and operator of Jones Trucking. In his later years, he shared his skills as an HVAC technician for Clay County.
Virgil had a zest for life and loved spending time with family and friends. He found joy in grilling, golfing, camping, boating, riding his Harley motorcycle, and spending time watching the Florida Gators and the Jacksonville Jaguars football. His laughter, kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is remembered not only for his love of life but also for the strength, humor, and warmth he shared with everyone around him.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Denise; his son, Ryan Jones; his daughter, Cierra Clark (Brian); his cherished grandchildren, Gabby, Jordan, Alexis, Trinity, Easton, and Hannah; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Walker and Raelynn. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Doug Jones (Paula), Glenn Jones (Valerie), and Craig Jones (Penni); as well as many nieces and nephews who dearly loved him.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Chad Weeks officiating, followed by burial at Penney Farms Cemetery.
