Thomas Lewis Ellis, Jr., 83, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away peacefully Friday, July 29^th 2022.

He was born to Milford and Thomas Ellis, Sr. on August 24, 1938, in Hawkinsville, GA, moved to Green Cove Springs with his mother as a young boy.

He was a proud Jacksonville University alumnus, where he earned both his Bachelors and Masters degrees.  He taught history at Clay High School his entire career, retiring after 33 years of service.

He married Martha Foster in 1978.  They had two daughters, Melody and Laura.  He and Martha divorced years later. 

He was a devoted Catholic and loyal fan of J.U. football (Go Dolphins!).  He loved to read and study.

He is survived by daughters Melody Rivera (Gregory), Laura Ellis, and grandchildren Graciela, Gregory, Giana, Gabriel and Gilbert. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Pendergraft officiating. The interment will follow the mass at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
