Sheri Jeanine Blair Shelley, 66, of Fleming Island, Florida, went home on October 10, 2026 after a battle with cancer. She was born on August 16, 1960 in Paintsville, KY to Elizabeth Carol Dyer Peach and the late Lowell Blair. She was a devoted member of River Christian Church in Fleming Island, Florida. Sheri joined the Women’s Life Group and made countless friends that shared numerous activities together. She ran the Canteen and the Grief Share Group.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Rainer Herbert Shelley, her mother, Elizabeth Carol Dyer Peach of Lexington, KY, sister, Theresa Jean Blair Castillo (Marcello), of Jeffersonville, KY, brother, Anthony Lowell Blair, of Green Cove Springs, FL, son-in-law, Brian Duran Woody of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren Brionna Destiny Woody, Brittni Desiree Woody, Brian Duran Woody, Jr., and Bricen Dane Woody and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her in-laws, Kenneth and Anna Shelley, and her beautiful daughter Heather Ann Shelley Woody.
Sheri graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1978. She then graduated from Transylvania University in 1982 with a BA in Business and her Masters Degree of Business was received from University of Central Florida. She rounded out her academic credentials by getting her CPA license in 1997.
Sheri made her career dream come true working in the IT Department for KPMG, LLC, a worldwide CPA firm. A colleague shared these words in Loving Memory. Sheri was an integral part of the KPMG Digital Nexus Deltek team since the system’s initial implementation in 2015, serving as its Functional Lead. For over a decade, she was a pillar of strength, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the team. One of the proudest moments of our journey together was the successful transformation of our Deltek platform from an on-premise system to the cloud. Sheri played an instrumental role in this complex undertaking, bringing her deep functional expertise, determination, and collaborative spirit to every challenge. Our collective efforts culminated in KPMG receiving the 2025 Deltak Enterprise MVP Award in Denver, Colorado—a recognition that Sheri helped make possible and a milestone we will forever associate with her contributions.
After Sheri’s initial diagnosis of cancer, she elected to have a double mastectomy as a safeguard measure. That motivated her to have reconstructive breast surgery. She invented a protective cover to prevent rubbing and chafing for more comfort and a quicker recovery. She wore her homemade invention to the doctor and he was so impressed; he partnered with her on this genius invention and they were granted a patent.
Services for Sheri Shelley will be Saturday October 24, 2026 at Taul Funeral Home located at 109 East Main Street Mt. Sterling, KY 40353 at 10:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. The Interment service will be at Machpelah Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, KY following the service.
