Sheila passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the age of 98, with her family by her side. In a fitting tribute to her roots, she passed on the fourth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death—a detail that brings a smile and a nod to those who knew just how fiercely proud she was of being British.

Sheila originally moved to the United States to marry her husband, Walter. Together they had three children: Mark, Ann, and Sharon. Sheila’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her universe. She loved nothing more than nurturing and caring for her family.

A woman of many talents, she was a fabulous cook and baker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, drawing, puzzles, and traveling. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her fierce loyalty to family and friends, her love of English traditions, and her unwavering commitment to doing what is right in life. Her family will fondly treasure her endless stories of growing up in England in a household of 10 children, and her remarkable history of surviving the war.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her daughter, Sharon; her parents; and her nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Catherine; her daughter, Ann; her five grandchildren, Sarah, Abbey, Brooke, Mark II, and Caroline; and her two great-grandchildren, Kingston and Hudson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
