Sharon VanGelderen Parks went home to her Heavenly Father on June 17, 2026. She is now walking on streets of gold with her beloved husband and other loved ones that have gone on before.
Sharon was born on June 21, 1945, in St. Augustine, FL to Alvin VanGelderen and Grace Smith. Sharon grew up playing on St. George Street and the Castillo de San Marcos Fort there on the Bayfront in St. Augustine, FL. Sharon loved St. Augustine and all it had to offer.
Sharon met the love of her life while attending St. Augustine High School. At the age of 14 she met and fell in love with Roger Dale Parks, Sr. They were married on June 22nd, the day after her 16th birthday.
Sharon will always be remembered for her love of her family and friends. She attended numerous horse shows and sporting events all to watch her family compete and have fun. She also made sure that if you came to her house, she had your favorite snack and drink available for you. Christmas was her favorite holiday she loved giving gifts; she made sure everyone had a gift under the tree. Sharon was loved by all and will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her Stepfather, Merld Thomas, who she lovingly called "Daddy". She always said he was her daddy because he raised her. And her older brother James Charles Frye.
She is survived by her youngest brother Harry Michael Thomas (Mildred) her daughters Shari Carney (Timmy) of Green Cove Springs, Janie Pacetti (Rick) of St. Augustine and her son Dale (Eve) of Green Cove Springs. Grandchildren include Sharonda Rawlins (David) of Green Cove Springs, Richard Pacetti (Jessie) Green Cove Springs, Timothy Carney (Elizabeth) of Green Cove Springs, Matthew Pacetti (Stephanie) of St. Augustine, Haley Parks, Tyler Parks (Haley) of Green Cove Springs. Her Great Grandchildren include Bradley Carney (Kylee), Gracie Rawlins, Lorelei Carney, Connor Rawlins, Mackenzie Carney, Tripp Pacetti, Jacob Pacetti, Reid Pacetti, Lilly Pacetti and Hudson Parks. Sharon also has a dear friend at Pruitt Assisted Living that she grew fond of her while living there the last three years of her life, Judy Wiley.
Celebration of life will be at Shiloh Missionary Church in Green Cove Springs, FL Pastor Marc Swarthout will be officiating. 1055 County Road 226 at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10th. In Lieu of flowers please donate to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
