On the morning of July 25th, 2026, Shannon Marie Bentley Moore left her wheelchair at heaven’s gate as she ran into the arms of Jesus. She passed away at the age of 54 in her hometown of Palatka, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD. Though she will be missed dearly by the many people on earth who loved her, she is now breathing easy and at peace.

Shannon was born on February 24th, 1972, in Green Cove Springs, Florida to parents Nancy and Alvin Bentley. As an adult, she resided in her home in Palatka, Florida where she lived for 31 years with her dear husband, Shawn. Shannon loved to read, shop, and was especially fond of finding a good deal. The most important thing in the world to her was her family, and spending time with them brought her immeasurable joy. Doting endlessly on her three granddaughters was her favorite pastime.

Shannon was raised in Green Cove Springs and attended Clay High School. As an adult, she enjoyed working at Cattail Creek, the restaurant that her parents owned, and then later at Top of the Reef. Her life revolved around serving and caring for others. She was the most devoted Mama to her twin sons, a loving wife, and a diligent caretaker to any family over the years who needed her, especially her Aunt Bonnie. If someone she loved needed anything at all, Shannon never hesitated even for a second. She would drop everything for her family from her early life up until her final moments.

Shannon is preceded in death by her parents Alvin Leslie Bentley and Nancy Jean Schneider. She is survived by her husband Shawn Moore, her sons Zachary (Carie) Moore and Dylan (Hannah) Moore, her sister Kathy (Ray) Sutton, and her Aunt Bonnie Schneider. She is survived by her grandchildren Sophia, Savannah, and Evelyn. She is also survived my many nephews, great nieces and nephews, and in-law family Luther and Linda Moore, and Pam (Robin) Chancey, who loved her dearly.

Everyone who was close with Shannon knew that being around her usually meant laughing a lot, eating good food, telling old stories, and probably being given a gift or two just because she saw something that made her think of you- and she’d also be sure to proudly let you know about the amazing deal she got on it. Shannon loved all things Christmas and was the embodiment of Christmas magic all year round. With the help of her husband and sons, she would transform her front yard into a Christmas wonderland each December just to bring joy to any child who happened to stop by. So much of what she did in her life was for the sake of putting smiles on the faces of the children she knew, and her grandchildren will forever remember her as being Granny Claus.

Shannon leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, laughter, gift giving, and unconditional love. Through her life, she has blessed her family and friends with countless memories that will be cherished forever. Though her absence leaves behind an ache that can never really go away, her memory will not only bring a smile to the faces of those who loved her, but also a reminder of the importance of family, generosity, and sacrificial love.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Holiday Angel Tree program or adopt an Angel at Christmastime in her honor.

A Memorial Service will be held in Broadus-Raines Chapel on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00am with Pastor Shaun Thomas officiating. Guests are welcome to arrive starting at 10:30am.

Following the Memorial Service, a reception will be held at Providence Baptist Church at 141 Providence Church Rd N, Palatka, FL 32177.
