RONNIE SUE PEABODY

Peabody – Ronnie S. (Susie), 85, died unexpectedly October 11th, 2026, at Aviata of Green Cove Springs, Florida. She was born March 22, 1941, in Lyons Georgia, the daughter of James Frank Powell and Thelma Kight Powell.

Susie lived in Savannah, Georgia until she was 18 years old. She often reminisced about how fun it was growing up in Savannah, skating, dances, Tybee Island and of course laughing with her friends: Francis, Linda and Shirley. They loved playing jokes on all their friends as much as possible.

Susie graduated in 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida. Following graduation, she spent time in Miami, Florida where she met her first husband George Noel Wilson, Sr. They settled in Jacksonville, Florida and raised 2 children, George Noel Wilson, Jr. and Joy Lee Garrett. Their marriage lasted 19 years. Her second marriage was to Henry Elwood Peabody for 20+ years.

Susie was employed at the Glixteen firm downtown for many years in the 60’s, a homemaker for several years, then later worked downtown at Baptist Medical Center for 5 years and then to the Leukemia Society. She enjoyed working for the Leukemia Society, raising money and planning charity events. Susie was a social butterfly, so this was right up her alley. She enjoyed her coworkers so much. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and made good memories with friends. She resided in Mandarin since 1970 and at Williams Walk Condominiums for 20 years. She loved the pool and her community. She lived her life to the fullest.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by both husbands, sisters Nelda Powell and Martha King. Surviving is her sister Carol Kemp, son, George Noel Wilson, Jr., daughter Joy Lee Garrett, grandchildren: Trey Wilson and wife Adrianne Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Joshua Pearl, Clint Mitchell Garrett, Powell Marie Garrett, and great grandchild: Oakley Michelle Garrett.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00pm Friday, November 13th, 2026 at Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 12236 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to: Community Hospice and Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road Jacksonville, Fl 32257.
