Robert Allen Moore, of Fleming Island, FL, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on April 14, 2025. He was 91 years old.
Bob lived a life defined by dedication, passion, and service, leaving a profound and lasting impact on the world of education. A proud graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport, Bob majored in Physical Education, which laid the foundation for his lifelong career as both an educator and a coach. He went on to earn two master’s Degrees from St. Bonaventure University, with a primary focus on Administration.
After being drafted into the Army, Bob was chosen to coach sports on the European Front, a role he embraced with unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. Upon his return home, he continued his work in education, serving as an administrator at several large high schools. There, he influenced and mentored countless students and teachers, touching many lives in ways that extended beyond the classroom. His commitment to education was not just a profession, but a calling he carried with pride.
Beyond his career, Bob was an avid golfer, who cherished every opportunity to share his love of the game with others. He was always willing to offer advice and support to fellow players. In addition to golfing, Bob had a passion for gardening, woodworking, and spending time outdoors. He greatly enjoyed visiting with friends and family, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Moore of Portville, NY; his brother, Ozro Moore of Vero Beach, FL; and his loving wife, Anne Catherine Moore. He is survived by his son, Michael (Patti) Moore of Hamlin, NY; his daughters, Sandy (Jim) Summerton of Fleming Island, FL, Kathy (Ron) Cain of Randolph, NY, and Cyndi (Perry) Wellman of Windsor, VA; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy lives on through the countless individuals he mentored, both in the classroom and on the golf course.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where Bob spent many cherished moments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of your choice in honor of Bob.
