Robert E. Kunz, age 88, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert E. Kunz was born on July 23, 1937, in Springfield, Illinois, and lived a life defined by faith, service, leadership, and unwavering devotion to his family.

In 1956, Robert married the love of his life, Donna C. Kunz, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned nearly six decades. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and steadfast commitment to one another. They lived in the Chicago area, including Streamwood and Roselle, Illinois, for many years before relocating to Fleming Island, Florida, in 1994. Robert later became a resident of St. Augustine in 2005.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, a service he carried with great pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to serving and protecting others, ultimately retiring as a Commander with the Streamwood Police Department, where he was respected for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his community.

Above all his accomplishments, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose family was the center of his life. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, wisdom, loyalty, kindness, and the steady love he gave so freely to those around him.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna C. Kunz.

He is survived by his children: Kim Green of Gilberts, Illinois; Donna Andrea (Frank) of Fleming Island, Florida; Robert M. Kunz of St. Augustine, Florida; Stephen Kunz (Leslie) of Grand Junction, Colorado; and John Kunz of Fleming Island, Florida; along with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply blessed by his love and example.

A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 12, at Crossroads Lutheran Church in Fleming Island, Florida.

Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery, where he will be reunited with his beloved wife, Donna.
