Mr. Richard L. Garrison, age 101 years old of Orange Park, Florida passed away on June 2, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Dulce Marie Garrison and his parents.

He is survived by two daughters, Rita Altman of Green Cove Springs, Florida and Rose Pavey (Carl) of Lake City, Florida and a son Richard L. Garrison, Jr. (Lucy) of Dade City, Florida. Two grandchildren, Helen Blalock (David) of Brevard, North Carolina, Christina Johnson (David) of Tampa, Florida. Two great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Johnson.

He was born on October 21, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio and grew up there. He joined the Navy at the start of WW2 and served in the North Atlantic and then in the Pacific. He was a Boatswain Mate and a diver. After his Navy service he attended the School of Electronic in Miami, Florida and was a member of the US NAVY Memorial and a member of the USS Hoist ARS 40 Association. After completing 20 years in the Navy he moved to Miami, Florida. He worked for Dade County for 20 years as a traffic signal engineer. In 1978 he and his wife moved to the Florida Keys. While there he worked in property management. He later moved to Lake City, Florida in 1995 and they built a home. They later moved to Eastside Village in Lake City in 2003 and he was a member of the Homeowners Association.

He enjoyed stamp collecting, woodworking, building small model boats and gardening. He always had the most beautiful yard in every place he lived.

A service will be held at a later date at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
