In Loving Memory of Ricardo Taitingfong Castro

September 17, 1949 – April 07, 2026

Ricardo "Rick" Castro, 76, *a Vietnam veteran*, formerly of Tamuning/Dededo Guam and recently of Green Cove Springs, Florida, was called to rest on April 7, 2026.

A man of deep faith and even deeper joy, Ricardo was known as the ultimate "Papa" and the best dad his children could have asked for. He filled his home with the sound of music and the echoes of his own laughter—usually because he was the first person to crack up at his own dad jokes. His warmth and humor were the glue that held his large, loving family together.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Romana Castro; his parents-in-law, Joaquin and Teresa Mendiola; four siblings; three children, Selena, Sonya, and Frankie Joseph; and his grandson, Adrian.

Ricardo’s legacy of love lives on through his wife of 52 years, Josephine Mendiola Castro, and their devoted family:

• Children: Stephanie (Lawrence) Whitfield, Rick (Tina) Castro, Sara Castro, Sonnita (Termaine) Pruitt, Kenneth (Noreen) Castro, Sierra Castro, and his reared son, Anthony (Sheila) Demapan.

• Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren: He was a proud and doting grandfather to a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.

His absence leaves an emptiness in our lives that can never be filled, but we carry his songs and his laughter in our hearts until we meet again. 

A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 at 11:00am with Father Marek Dzien officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am.
