With great fondness and a sprinkle of humor, we announce the passing of Rexford "Rex" DeWayne Borsheim, who left this world on October 12, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 23, 1941, in Wallace, Idaho, Rex lived a life full of love, laughter, and a few good rounds of golf – not necessarily in that order.
Rex led a remarkable career, serving 22 honorable years in the Navy where he proudly attained the rank of Chief, as an Electronics Technician. He wasn’t just good with gadgets; he also had a gift for teaching and spent time instructing in the Navy and at Lockheed Martin, where he authored tech manuals for the complex Doppler radar system. After his military career, Rex continued to serve his community for ten years with the Clay County Sheriff's Department, proving that the call of duty lasts well beyond uniforms.
Despite his impressive resume, what truly set Rex apart was his understated presence. A man of few words, when he did speak, you can bet your last golf ball that everyone sat up and listened. He was steadfast in his beliefs and faith, and was dedicated to his family, demonstrating both patience and competitiveness—especially on the golf course. He could deliver a solid zinger while expertly sinking his putts, which was a talent all his own!
Rex’s love for his family was boundless. He was married to the love of his life, Dee Borsheim, for an impressive 63 years. Together, they created a legacy of two wonderful children, Ron and Rhonda, and five cherished grandchildren, alongside a delightful great-grandson who will surely continue Rex's legacy of hard work, humor and passion for life.
Perhaps not one to brag, Rex was no stranger to extraordinary events. He survived Vietnam, was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even found himself in Iran during the overthrow of the Shah. Quite the resume for a man of few words, don’t you think?
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 17th, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider donating to K-9 for Warriors, an organization that reflects Rex’s love for service.
Rex may have traded his golf clubs for something far greater, but his deeds, laughter, and the quiet strength he shared will forever echo in the hearts of those he loved. Rest easy, dear Rex; the world has lost a lovely, witty soul, while heaven has gained a great player.
Blessings,
Your Loving Family!
