Pete Dick

August 11, 1959 — August 17, 2021

Pete Dick, 62, of Fleming Island, FL went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2021. He was born on August 11, 1959, in Aux Cayes, Haiti to Leslie and Susan Dick and spent his early days going to school, swimming, riding his motorcycle, and being active at the mission station.

At 14, Pete returned to the states and went to Halladale High School and later Warroad High School.  He graduated from Thief River Aviation School where he became a certified airplane mechanic.  He eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL and worked in the Automobile industry.  He spent over 20 years working in sales and later as a manager at Kings Crown Ford / Autonation.  In 2009, he built on his sales experience and became a business owner of a Snap-on Tools Franchise.  It was there where he was able to mentor mechanics and provide business suggestions to several Snap-on Tool franchisees.

Pete will be remembered by neighbors and friends for his ability to fix anything, skills he learned from his dad. He was always willing to offer his guidance and services to a friend in need.

Pete was married to Shelly (Hughes) Dick for 28 years and had two daughters Katelyn (Katie) and Kristie who he adored.  His priorities were serving God, his family, and his career.  His girls have so many fond memories of RV and boating trips, Snap-On conferences, and simply working together as a family. They shared his passion for the outdoors, adventure, and cars.

He attended First Baptist Church of Orange Park and Christ's Church Fleming Island.  He served God through his fellowship, guidance, skills and support.

He is preceded in death by his father Leslie Dick, brother-in-law Donald Vancas, sister-in-law Valerie Hughes and nephew Evan Lockner.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly, and daughters Katie and Kristie.  His mother Susan Dick (Orange Park),  Jonathan Dick (Susan) Lake Forest IL, Joan Lentini (Michael) Brunswick GA, Phyllis Vancas (Orange Park), Peggy Harder (Charles) York NE, Kathy Epp (Delwayne) York NE,  Curtis Dick (Jacksonville) Brother-in-law to Frank Hughes, Latham NY and Tim Hughes (Lisa) Cohoes NY. He is survived by many aunts and uncles and he was Uncle Pete to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel, from 6-8 with a prayer offered by Pastor Todd Bussey of Christ's Church, Fleming Island. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10:00 am with Pastor David Tarkington officiating and Pastor David Johnston delivering the message. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family suggests donations be given to Clay County Younglife FL210, an organization his daughter was involved in and Pete supported. Young life is a Christ-centered ministry that helps kids know Jesus, grow in their faith, and serve him. Checks can be mailed to Clay County Young Life, PO Box 9115, Fleming Island, FL 32003, or donations made online at https://claycounty.younglife.org where you can designate an "in honor of" gift.
