The Man, the Myth, the Legend, Patrick “Pat” Mizzen, 78, has passed on from this life on February 23, 2026.

Known to many as Dad, Papa, and Superman, was born August 17, 1947, to Percy and Winifred Mizzen in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

From an early age, he embodied strength, humility, and an unwavering sense of duty that would define his remarkable life. Pat held many occupations throughout his legacy, but he was most proud of his military service. A distinguished veteran, he served six years in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He continued his dedication to his country with more than 20 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief after serving during Gulf War (Desert Storm). His commitment to service was steadfast, and he carried the pride of his uniform throughout his life.

Superman had a love for the simple joys of life. He enjoyed reading, was a devoted cheesehead who cheered loudly for the Green Bay Packers (“Go Pack Go!”), and was an avid golf fan. Some of his happiest moments were spent camping with his beloved wife and family, pool parties and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) post 8255 in Middleburg.

Pat leaves behind a trail of broken hearts. Among those mourning his loss is his wife of 46 years, Jackie. He was a proud and devoted girl dad to Michelle (Jeff) Haak, Renee (Jody) Bach, Danielle (Joe) Boston, and Jennifer (John) Timberlake. Papa was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Colby, Jesse, Joshua, Lexi, Rachel and Sarah. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his smile, guidance, steady presence, and gentle nature.

He leaves a lasting legacy of honor, loyalty, strength, and unconditional love. His life was defined not just by the titles he held, but by the character he lived — a protector, a mentor, a hero to his family, and a friend to many.

Though The Man, The Myth, The Legend may have laid down his cape, his impact will live on in every life he touched.
