Patricia Joan Larsen

August 25, 1936 — March 29, 2022

Patricia Joan “Bailey” Larsen passed away on March 29th, 2022 after fighting a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.  Bailey lived her life to the fullest with a zest for adventure, and a deep love for people, animals and nature. She had a heart filled with love and joy, with a contagious sense of humor.

Born on August 25, 1936, Bailey grew up in New York City, the third oldest of six children. Following graduation from Tottenville High School at 16, Bailey journeyed into New York City where she worked for the CUNARD Ocean Lines in Public Relations.  Her engaging personality was perfectly suited for this position.  Leaving the New York City area, Bailey settled her family in Toms River, New Jersey.  Her next career move was to open her own homemade donut shop, after which she found her true niche in real estate.  Her keen eye for decorating could turn any property into a gem.  It was in real estate that Bailey also developed her strongest friendships, those that lasted a lifetime.

It would only be natural that Bailey would transplant herself from New Jersey to Florida.  An avid boater, her boating adventures ranged from New Jersey to Florida, the Bahamas and Canada.  She would pass that love of the water onto her daughter and the adventures would continue.

A lover of animals, Bailey was known to bring home a number of lost animals. Her family never knew what was coming through the door next, but she always found them a home.  She loved her black Labrador Retriever SHADOW and her Portuguese Waterdog JESSE.

A true lover of life itself, Bailey established strong friendships in every community she lived.  She showed us how to keep close ties, treat each other with love and kindness, and to laugh until your sides hurt. She leaves a legacy of strength, compassion and love.

Bailey is preceded in death by her brother Joseph Barclay and her husband Hyer Larsen.  She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Barrett, “son” Donald Miller, sisters Cathleen Weise and JoanAnne Cromie, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

In lieu of flowers, Bailey requested donations be made in her name to the Clay County Animal shelter.
