James Michael “Mike” McInerney, 65, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away on April 7, 2025. Mike was born to Noel “Minner” and Barbara June (Carver) McInerney on June 5, 1959, in Green Cove Springs and lived most of his life in the area.

Mike was an avid fisherman and there is no shortage of stories about the time “Uncle Mike” did this or “Papa Mike” or “Pop” did that. For as many stories and memories as there are about him, he could have filled a library with the tales he had to share. He adored kids, and the smile on his face was rarely larger than when his grandkids or grandnieces were around.

Mike earned his GED as an adult and was never shy about expressing the importance of education. His final act was to donate his body for medical research and education. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his mother, June; his son, James Jr, “Scooter,” and his girlfriend, Emily; his daughter, Heather Gagner, and her husband, Josh; his stepdaughter, Dana Brock and her husband, Greg; his stepson, Michael Murrhee and his girlfriend, Lauren; his grandchildren, Lilah, Atticus, Tyler, Aubrey (“Peanut”), and Kaycee; his sisters, Sandra Nolleen Floyd, Rebecca Fugitt and her husband, Ed, and Brenda Harvey and her husband, Donnie; his former spouses, Kathleen McInerney (née Doyle) and Robyn McInerney (née Loner); his nieces and nephews, Cindi and her wife, Audrian, Amber, Patrick, Steve, Tom and his wife, Aubri, Jessi, and Donald; and last but not least, his grandnieces, Eva, Norah, and Ada.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3PM on April 11, 2025, at the Broadus-Raines chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mike's memory.
