Michael Edward Dorman of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away on June 25, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl Royal, brother to Pat Newman and the kind father of Nikki (TJ) and Megan (Ray). He was the stepfather to Rebecca (Nicholas) and Kathryn (Rob). He was loved as Grandpa/Pop Pop to Ty, Jonathan, Camryn, Haylee, Jaylin, Brody, Zoey, Rihanna, Ryan, Kris, Clifford, and Eloise. He was a great grandfather to Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Buddy Dorman and Dorothy Weeks, his brothers Daryl Dorman and Richard Dorman, sister Karen Dorman, and brother-in-law Erv Newman.
Michael Edward Dorman was born on April 29th, 1954. Mike retired from the Florida Department of Transportation after making lifetime friends in the Gainesville FLDOT and the St. Augustine FLDOT. Throughout his life, he enjoyed celebrating with his family and friends. He always wanted a reason to have family together. Even when they weren’t celebrating, he cherished breakfasts and Friday night dinners with friends. Everyone knows that Mike was an avid hunter and fisher. He loved to teach his grandkids how to fish. He also enjoyed anything that went fast. He loved four wheeling, boating, jetskiing, and racing. He enjoyed attending NASCAR races and the Gator Nationals. In fact, he only missed one Gator National event in his adult life. On the weekends you could find him watching the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but as a devoted husband, found his way to loving the Green Bay Packers. Mike cherished all the friendships and relationships that he has created over the span of his seventy-one years of life. He was always the one that you could call for help and he would be there. He could fix anything and solve any problem. He was loyal, dependable, and cared for his family deeply. He was a wonderful husband, father, friend, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all.
We will celebrate Mike Dorman in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Monday the 14th of July at 10:00am. Immediately following the service, we will have a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge at 702 South Orange Avenue, Green Cove Springs.
We would prefer that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry.
