Marvin "Shorty" Masters

June 27, 1929 — April 21, 2021

Marvin Leroy “Shorty” Masters, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Hubert and Eula Masters. He served in the U.S army during the Korean War. He was a member of Plumber and Pipefitters local 234 for 64 years. He was employed at W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor for 21 years until his retirement in 1992.

During his retirement, Shorty enjoyed cycling on the bike trail from Green Cove Springs to Orange Park. He was an avid woodworker, spending hours in his workshop on projects for family and friends. He loved his time on the ocean fishing. Even with all of his hobbies and interests ultimately his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his sister, Loraine Blankenship and brother, Francis “Son” Masters. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrna Gayle Hodges Masters, his two children, Georgia Amanda Masters and Jason Christopher Masters (Alana), two grandchildren, Bailey Kyle Bolick (Robbie) and William L. Kyle IV, one great grandchild, Owen Stanton Bolick and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating.
