Marcia Haslett, 78, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, with her children and granddaughter by her side.

Marcia was born on December 28, 1947, in Vandalia, Illinois, to James and Shirley Curry. She was one of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her beloved husband of 51 years, SFC Verlin Haslett.

She is survived by her loving children, Shanna Breen (Kenny) and James “J.R.” Haslett (Betsy); and her cherished grandchildren, Marissa Haslett (32), Andy Lonsdale (22), Lincoln Haslett (15), Anthony Breen (14), and her “Little” Hank Haslett (10).

Marcia dedicated her life to caring for others. She began her career as a nursing home social worker and, after earning her bachelor’s degree, became a nursing home administrator. She spent the majority of her career serving as the administrator of Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois, where she was deeply respected for her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her residents and staff.

Above all else, Marcia was devoted to her faith and her family. In 2011, she and her husband moved from Lebanon, Illinois, to Fleming Island, Florida, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma.” She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and found purpose in guiding, encouraging, and surrounding them with unconditional love as they grew.

Marcia’s kindness, strength, wisdom, and steadfast faith left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and remembered always.
