Linda Gibson Zelenka, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida. She died after a long, but graceful struggle with dementia. Linda was born in Huntington, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Richard Gibson and Freda Donnell Gibson. She had degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Florida and worked as an English teacher for many years. She married Michael Hunter Zelenka in 1969 and they shared 56 years of marriage. She was known for her love of people and was a member of the Methodist church. Over the years, Linda was active in her church in women’s organizations, Stephen Ministry, and had a close involvement for many years with her church’s sister church in Cuba. After a family tragedy, Linda was active in and led her local branch of Compassionate Friends for a number of years. She is survived by her spouse, Michael, by her daughter, Jennifer Z. LaSala, her son, David Donnell Zelenka, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Richard.

A memorial service for Linda will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Orange Park Methodist Church, in Orange Park, Florida.
