Lenny Darl Gillespie of Fleming Island, Florida passed away on July 8, 2026.

Lenny was born on December 29, 1940 to Dana and Edith Gillespie in Wilsonburg, WV. Lenny enlisted in the Navy on March 31, 1960 and served for 26 years. He participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1963 aboard CVS39, USS Lake Champlain. He taught ASW tactical warfare at NAS Willow Grove, PA. He was a NATOPS flight crew and ordinance evaluator. 1974-1978, and P2 and P3 flight crew ordnance man 1972 - until retirement in November 1986.

On retirement from the Navy, Lenny went back to school for Air Conditioning and Heating. He started his own business in 1991 until 2010.

Lenny enjoyed golf, restoring his 1967 GTO and travel. He was a member of Grace Anglican Church.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Q. Gillespie, son Reed B. Gillespie (Loni), and Lenny Dean Gillespie (Nora). Grandchildren Reed (Emily), Eric (Amber), Dana (Ivery), Robert (Ellie), and Elizabeth Gillespie. Great-grandchildren Reed, Callum and step-grandchild Grady. Stepchildren Jeffrey R Lance (Christine), and Kelly A. Lance (Michael Matulis) Step-grandchildren Jenna and Zachary Lance. Brother H. Edward (Tracey) Gillespie. Nephews and nieces Robin, Parrish Gillespie and Jill Otworth. Lenny was predeceased by brother Larry Gillespie and son Richard Gillespie.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
