Larry Paterson of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 14, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer. Born on October 2, 1957, in Starke, Florida, Larry was the beloved son of Bob and Helen Paterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Buddy Paterson, whom he loved deeply.
Larry lived a life defined by faith, devotion, and love. A devout Christian, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart and dedicated his life to serving Him and His church. Throughout his life, Larry freely gave his time and talents in many capacities and faithfully served as the spiritual leader of his family.
Married for 47 beautiful years, Larry was inseparable from the love of his life, his beloved wife, Terri. He adored her deeply, and their marriage stood as a true testament to commitment, faith, and unconditional love. Together, they built a family rooted in compassion, laughter, and devotion.
Larry was a proud and devoted father to his two daughters, Hope (Daniel) Davis and Stacy (Brian) Adkins. He was the very definition of an amazing father and the best “girl dad,” always present, endlessly supportive, and never hesitant to help with every event, activity, and milestone along the way.
Affectionately known as “Grand,” Larry found immeasurable joy in his six grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure: Kensleigh Lockhart (fiancée Michael Lowery), Addysen Lockhart, Pateynn Davis, Beckham Adkins, Gentry Davis, and Tucker Davis. Being their Grand was one of the greatest joys of his life, and his love for them was evident in every smile, story, and shared moment.
Larry is also survived by his loving sister, Linda King, with whom he shared a close bond and treasured time together whenever possible, as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Professionally, Larry served as a building official for the Northeast Florida Educational Consortium, supporting school districts throughout the region—a role he truly loved. His work reflected his integrity, dedication, and strong belief in serving others. After many years of faithful service, he retired in October of 2024. In fulfillment of a lifelong dream to live on the river, Larry and Terri relocated to Green Cove Springs in 2015. Then Larry became the manager of Governor’s Landing Condominiums, where he took great pride in the beautification of the property and worked diligently to make it a welcoming and exceptional place to live for all residents fulfilling 10 years of faithful service.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. His life was guided by strong values and an unshakable faith. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so fiercely and the many lives he touched through his kindness, service, and example. Though deeply missed, Larry’s family rejoices in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and finds peace knowing he is now healed and whole in the presence of the Lord he loved so faithfully.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Church of the Way, located at 1859 Town Hall Circle, Fleming Island, Florida.
