Kristopher Patrick Owen, better known as Kris, was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend born on October 5th, 1976 at the Naval Base in Charleston, SC. Being a bicentennial baby, Kris was born in a year of celebration, and he exemplified that in life. His contagious smile and laugh, his zest for life, his unconditional love for family, friends and his treasured children is what Kris will always be known for. Kris was tragically taken from this life on January 1st, 2024.
Kris graduated from Clay High School in 1996 and then later became a machinist, but truly he was a jack of all trades. He cherished his childhood and adolescence, the many adventures with his brother and all the neighborhood kids who became family. Reminiscing was a favorite pastime of Kris’. There were many stories he could tell, but just as many that could be told about him. His heart was unending with love for everyone he called friend or brother, he was always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, be a shoulder to lean on, or be a listening ear. He touched many lives in his lifetime and the hole that has been left will never be filled.
Kris had a deep love for being outdoors, fishing (he carried around gear just in case he found a spot), surfing, camping, white water rafting, the springs, and snake hunting with Matt. Kris was a devoted football fan of Florida State and his home team the Jaguars (for better or worse).
Being a father was Kris’ source of pride and his greatest accomplishment in life. His love for his children was known by all who encountered him. He would light up and burst at the seams with joy speaking of his children. All four of his children were truly loved by him; they were his world, his reason to live.
Kris is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Thomas W. Lisle & Elizabeth J. Lisle, paternal grandfather Dale Robert Owen, his grandmother Helen Larimore, and his beloved nephew Zachary James Hill.
Kris is survived by his children Alayna, Alyssa, Gaven, & Donna Owen, his grandmother Wilma Owen, his parents Dale & Denise Owen, his brother Karl Owen (Dawna) & sister Jennifer Christoforo (Jamie), his nephews Wyatt Owen & Jakob Hill, along with many uncles, aunts and numerous beloved cousins.
A celebration of Kris’ life will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at 1:00pm at his parents’ home. Friends and family are welcome. Just as Kris was, he wanted this celebration to be simple and easy. Come as you are and bring stories & laughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make donations to Disabled American Veterans on behalf of Kris’ love and appreciation for veterans. Donations can be made through their website using this link.
