KAY ANN PIRA age 85, of ST. AUGUSTINE, passed away on December 9, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by her children. Born November 29, 1940, in Charleston, WV. 

She lived in Melbourne, Florida, and established her first dog grooming business, “Puppy Love,” until 1980. She and her husband then moved to Coral Springs, FL, where for a time she taught dog grooming at the prestigious Mayfield Grooming School. After moving to Michigan for 4 years, she and her husband finally settled in Saint Augustine, Florida, where she opened another “Puppy Love” grooming shop in Orange Park, Florida, that continues today. 

She is survived by Kippra Heinly, Dena Hall, Eric Hall, and Patrick O’Connor. She was a generous, loving, and kind person, and as a mother, she was loved more than words alone can express. She will be deeply missed. 

A celebration of her life will be held at her home on January 31, 2026, from 2pm until 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local animal shelter.
