July 2, 1942 – November 6, 2025
On November 6th, 2025, Joseph (Joey) Carter, closed his eyes for one last time, he passed peacefully at the age of 83 years young, after an extended illness, in Orange Park, Florida.
Joseph was born July 2nd, 1942, in New York to Samuel Jacob Carter and Roberta Alice (Deratary) Carter. Later he relocated to Clay County as a child. He graduated from Clay High School in Green Cove Springs.
During his lifetime, he worked at Georgia-Pacific in Palatka, numerous farming adventures and Clay County Animal Shelter from which he retired.
Joey had several hobbies but’s most of all, he loved working in the yard with his fruit trees, and he would distribute fresh fruit throughout the community. He will be most remembered for the high quality of hay he provided to Clay County, grown in his home place hay fields.
Preceded in death by both parents: Jacob and Alice Carter, four siblings: Bobbie Lowder, Jean Kibbons, Patsy Carter, and Samuel Jacob (Junior) Carter, and one daughter: Terri Carter Coulter Scarpulla.
He was a Lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Joey is survived by one son: Joseph Christopher Carter of Green Cove Springs, Florida, two daughters: Monique Carter of California and Sherri Lynnette Carter Coulter of Fleming Island, Florida. He also had five (5) grandchildren, five (5) great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1055 County Road 226, Green Cove Springs, Florida 32043.
