Jose Anthony Cuesta Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully at home January 7, 2026.
Jose was born January 1, 1950, in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from N.B. Forrest High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. Following his military service, Jose worked for many years as a lift pump mechanic before retiring.
Jose was a devoted family man who was always there for those he loved. He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for. Known for his sense of humor, Jose loved to joke around and bring laughter to others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family and friends. A man of faith, he believed in God and lived his life with love and loyalty.
Jose is survived by his son, Terry Olive; daughter Alicia Cuesta; daughter Toni Cuesta Johnson (Robert Johnson); sisters Cynthia Fairchild (James Fairchild) and Griselda Cuesta; brother Pete Cuesta; Uncle Demetruis (Mitch) Guerra; grandchildren Zachery Mullins, Kyle Bettac, Jada Hunter, Harley Johnson and Alice Johnson; great granddaughter Kinsley Mullins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Taylor; father Ray Taylor; father Jose Cuesta Sr.; brother Richard Taylor; sister Norma Krueger; beloved wife Bonnie Cuesta; and his cherished pet Paco Ramone.
Funeral services will be held January 22, 2026, at 11am, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Lane 2, located at 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
Jose Anthony Cuesta Jr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
