John "Johnny" Marton McGee was born in Jacksonville, FL, on December 15, 1947, and went Home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on September 4, 2026, at the age of 78. He was the eldest son of Cecil Reeves and Eleanor Marton McGee, and was a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs, FL. Johnny was married to Vivian Allen, and they celebrated their 51st anniversary last December. He was a faithful member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, for many years.

Early on in life, Johnny was noted as an exceptional student. He arrived in first grade at Green Cove Springs Elementary School already able to read, before receiving any formal training. This level of scholastic ability was evident throughout Johnny's education, and he received various commendations for academic excellence during his public-school years.

Johnny graduated from Clay High School in 1965. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree from St. Johns River Junior College in Palatka, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics at Florida State University in Tallahassee. That fall, he began his 41-year career as a mathematics teacher at Clay High School. Through his kindness and patience, Mr. McGee is remembered as a beloved teacher by generations of students. Up to the present time, he has taught algebra courses to several of his own grandchildren.

Due to his love of mathematics, Johnny enjoyed recording statistics for various sports teams at Clay High and also at Berean Christian Academy in Orange Park, Florida. In his spare time, Johnny loved to read and to work crosswords and other challenging puzzles, in addition to watching sports and cheering on his beloved Florida State Seminoles.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil R. McGee and Eleanor (Marton) McGee; his baby brother, Christopher Ross McGee; and his younger brother, Jeffrey Craig McGee.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Allen McGee; daughter Jessica (Tony) Ye of Cahokia, IL; son Christopher (Rachel) McGee of Sneads Ferry, NC; sister Sandy Gallagher of Charleston, SC; sister Carol McReynolds of Green Cove Springs, FL; three grandsons; four granddaughters; and several special cousins.
