John Amos III, age 80, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2026 with his family by his side at Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to John Amos Jr. and Patricia McConnell Amos.

John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. By trade, he was an electrician and an auto mechanic. In 1976, he and his brother Mike purchased an automotive repair shop, Amos Automotive, which remained in operation until 2006. Beyond his professional work, John was a skilled woodworker, an avid gardener, and a passionate photographer. He also served his community as a Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy Reservist. In 1966, John met Diane, and they married in 1968, beginning a loving union that lasted 58 years. They welcomed their daughter, Shauna, in 1974, followed two years later by their son, John Amos IV, continuing a long line of Amos men named John. In 1986, John built a home for his family, a testament to his skill and dedication.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia McConnell Amos, Father, John Amos Jr , his stepmother Vernadell; and his brother, Mike. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Boatwright Amos; his daughter, Shauna (Husband Carl) Allen of Port St. Lucie; his son, John Amos IV; his granddaughters, Kayla (Husband Michael) Forshee and Kylei Allen; his grandson, Kaden Allen; his great-grandchildren, Amelia and Mikey Forshee; his sisters, Janice (Terry) Houvsepian and Debra Burns; and his brother, Jerry Amos.

A Celebration of Life will be held at John’s home on February 7 at 1:00 p.m.
