Joan Carol (Billich) Bamberger
August 10, 1939 – January 13, 2024
Joan Carol (Billich) Bamberger, age 84, passed away peacefully January 13, 2024 at Penney Retirement Community due to complications following a surgery. Her daughter Ann, granddaughter Olivia, and good friend Del were with her at the time of her passing.
Joan was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1939, the eldest of two children, to Julius Billich and Anna Krepelka
Joan spent her childhood in Mount Ephraim, New Jersey. She graduated from Penn State Abington with a degree in Nursing. She married Grant Wenger Bamberger, Jr., her college sweetheart, in 1960. After college graduation the couple moved to Essex Junction, Vermont where they raised four children; Bob (Briget), Julie Knox (Doug), Gary (Noreen Cargill), and Ann Reidy (Rick).
While in Vermont Joan and Grant joined the Brownell Mountain Ski Club and it became an activity that they enjoyed doing together for many years. When the nest emptied Joan & her husband discovered the joys of RV life. Together they visited all 50 states and most of Canada during the summer months. They parked their RV in Breckinridge, Co. during the winter months where they enjoyed skiing with the Over the Hill Gang.
Joan was a talented musician. Through the years she sang barbershop, both chorus and quartet, as well as in the church choir. She played several instruments including piano, banjo and mandolin. In retirement she played with the RV musical groups, The Yankee Doodle Dandies and The Frustrated Maestros. She loved to play piano the most and in her last four months of life enjoyed playing biweekly for the residents of Penney Retirement Community.
In leaving us, Joan rejoins her parents, beloved husband, and great grandson Hunter Knox.
Joan is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren (Ryan, Veronica, Geoffrey, Nathan, Julia, Olivia, and Grant), two great grandchildren (Billy and Lilliana), and sister and brother in law Elaine & Roland Arthur.
Joan’s family would like to thank the residents of Penney Retirement Community for welcoming her so warmly and becoming such a wonderful support to her in her last months.
A family service will be held in the summer 2024 in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania.
