Jimmy Carl Barker, Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023, in Orange Park FL. He was born August 7,1944, in Sanderson, FL and resided on Fleming Island for the last 43 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Haynes Barker, his daughter Kimberly Diane Barker, and his son Jimmy Carl (Chip) Barker Jr. He is also survived by one grandson, David Neal Dansie (Ashlee) and 3 great grandchildren: Liam, Garrison, and Harlee Dansie.
Preceding him in death include his sister Donna Barker Haxter, his brother-in-law Douglas Haxter, and his parents Roxie Louise Mann Barker and Carl James Barker.
Immediately after graduation from Fernandina Beach High School, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in various U.S. cities as well as Stuttgart, Germany. He retired from CSX in 2004 after 39 years of service where he worked in the operating and real estate departments. He was also the owner/broker of Fleming Island Realty. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fleming Island Ward, where he served in many leadership positions.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20th at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 780 Water Oak Lane, Fleming Island, FL. Prior to the service the family will receive visitors from 10:30-11:30. Interment will be at Manntown Cemetery in Glen St. Mary, FL.
