Jessie James Rowe Jr., age 88, passed away with his loving family by his side on April 11th, 2025 in Jacksonville, FL. Jessie was born to Jessie James Rowe and Lois Rowe (nèe Batton) of Callahan, FL. on January 31st, 1937, in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Jessie graduated from Callahan High School in 1955 after which he joined the USAF as a Fighter Aircraft Crew Chief. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed at Cannon AFB, New Mexico as well as deploying to France and Libia during his 4 years on active duty. Following his separation from the USAF Jessie got a job in Callahan FL driving a truck and delivering eggs for a small company called Pine Breeze Farms where he spent most of his adult working years rising to the position of Vice President of Sales. Later in life he opened his own food brokerage business as well as partnering in the ownership of a home construction business.
Jessie was a long-time member of the Switzerland Community Church. As a devoted Christian and someone whose faith in Jesus Christ never wavered, Jessie volunteered and spent several years ministering to some of the most hardened prisoners in the Florida penitentiary system where he was instrumental in bringing many of the prisoners to Christ!
Jessie loved spending time with his family and close friends. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguar fan, and he enjoyed playing golf whenever he could.
Jessie will not only be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to many. But as a true believer in Christ, his savior.
Jessie was preceded in death by both his parents Jessie and Lois Rowe, and his younger brother Gaston Rowe. He is survived by his wife Linda Gail Rowe (nèe Hughes), his three children Jessie Rowe III (wife Leslie), Terri Strong (husband Chris), and Brad Rowe (wife DeeAnn); his three Grand Children Jessie Rowe IV (wife Lindsey), Jason Rowe (Wife Milbrey), and Jessica Mooney (Husband Pat). His seven great grandchildren Maria Mooney, Patrick Mooney, Jessie Rowe V, Mackenzie Mooney, Memphis Rowe, Christopher Mooney, and Honan Rowe. And his Sister Wilhelmina Merritt (Husband Dave), Brother Geroge Rowe (wife Gail), Sister Willene Jones (Husband Greg), and Brother Wayne Rowe.
A memorial Service will be held at Switzerland Community Church, 2179 State Rd 13 N, Jacksonville FL 32259 on May 24th at 11 AM. The presiding Pastor for Jessie’s service will be Wes Slough.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Jesse’s name to Tunnel to Towers and Samaritans Purse.
