Jenell McPeek passed away unexpectedly on Sunday September 28, 2025 at home in Green Cove Springs, Florida. She was 85 years old.

She was born to Thomas Lloyd and Edith (Higgins) Johnson in Belford, Kentucky.

She met and married Walter Roger McPeek and they were married 50 years until his death in 2011.

She was a homemaker until taking a job a newly opened K mart store and worked there for over 25 years. She also worked for Kroger’s for 10 years both in East Columbus, Ohio.

Jenell and Roger retired to Florida shortly after his retirement.

During her retirement she enjoyed fishing, shopping, playing slots, help care for her sister’s trailer park, helping homeless and feral cats, and spending time with her family. She was supporter of military veterans and first responders. She also supported children’s charities and cancer research.

She battled cancer in 2019 - 2020 and won. She was cancer free for 5 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Lloyd Johnson and Charlie Johnson, and Great grandson Daniel James “DJ” McPeek.

Survived by her Stepmother and good friend Mary Johnson. Her siblings Edith Maude Wingate, Linda Kay (Robert) Miller, David (Rita) Johnson, and Edith Ann Biagioli. Her children Asalee (Jesse) Murphy, James “Tom” (Sandy) McPeek, Walter (Myong) McPeek, and MarySue McPeek. Her grandchildren Shannon (Danny) Adams, Mary Jenell (Mike) Cox, Jaimie (Joe) Buchanan, Jesse Howard, Jodi Howard, Brant (Olivia) Campbell, Dr Ralph (Candi) Clevinger, Stephanie Collier, Christopher Clevinger, Randall (Megan) Clevinger, Walter Clevinger, Emily McPeek, Megan “Matt” McPeek, and 12 great grandchildren. Her beloved pets Sable and Coco. Close friends Charles (Rebecca), Irene, Freeman, Moises (his family), and Mark (Stella).

The McPeek family would like to express their gratitude to her doctors and care teams over the past 10 years, Dr. Platt and Dr.Bubios. Also extend a thank you and appreciation to Clay County Fire Station 20, Green Cove Springs Police, and Clay County Sheriff’s Department for your professionalism, kindness, care, and help with the response to our Mother’s home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday, October 3, 2025 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and funeral services will begin at 3:00pm with Dr. Ralph Clevinger officiating.

To honor her wishes, she will be cremated.
