James Clayton Mosley “JC” or as his ole’ Middleburg friends called him; “Jake”, was 79. JC ran his race well and went home to his reward peaceably on November 11, 2025.
JC was born to George & Alene Mosley November 2, 1946 in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
After graduating high school JC joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. JC vowed if he was to return to Middleburg, Florida safe and sound, he would never leave Clay County again. As far as anyone knows with the exception of a few go arounds in a “round about” in Oakleaf, he kept that promise. He made a career out of Southern Bell and retired from there when they put the GPS on all the vans.
JC was a Gator Fan through and through. The only thing better than watching the Gators win was seeing the Bull Dogs lose. In the good ole’ Middleburg days he enjoyed hunting with friends and family and working in the woods.
He will forever be remembered for his good heart and willingness to always help others. A quiet man who liked to get things done behind the scenes with out a big fuss. His gift of making the flowers bloom wherever he planted them was a blessing not only to Black Pond Baptist Church but to whomever he gifted one of his plants. He always said he loved talking to the flowers because they didn’t talk back.
JC was a devoted member of Black Pond Baptist Church, where his faith in Jesus Christ guided and sustained him. His church family and his Pastor held a special place in his heart. JC loved to participate in all the activities at church, especially all the lunches and fellowships that had fried chicken, coconut desserts and cheesecake.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Alene Mosley, Brother Floyd Mosley and sister Wilma Welbourne.
Survived by his son James Clayton Jr. (Jessica) Mosley, granddaughter Mya, sisters Kathy (Walter) Huntley and Gerry Johnson, brothers George “GB” (Carol) Mosley and Charles (Diane) Mosley.
Services will be 10:30 Visitation; 11:00 service at Black Pond Baptist Church with Brother Jason Brown officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Children’s Miracle Network of Jacksonville, Florida. Cmnjax.com
