James "Jim" Edward Maher

James “Jim” Edward Maher, a beloved husband, father, brother, and "Jimpa" to his cherished granddaughter, great-granddaughters, and great-nephew, passed away on June 15th, 2025.

Jim was born on January 2nd, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a proud graduate of Redford High School in Detroit, Michigan, Class of 1961. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1964. He later dedicated many years to public service, retiring from the Department of Defense in 2007.

A devoted member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church since 1984, Jim served diligently for many years as the groundskeeper and held leadership roles as both Junior and Senior Warden.

Outside of his professional and church life Jim coached his children’s sports teams and volunteered his time at many Clay High School Athletics events. An avid golfer, he found great joy on the greens.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Audrey; his in-laws, Bill and Winifred Geiger; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Macy and Marc Geiger.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Caralyn; children, Christina and James; granddaughter, Morgan; great-granddaughters, Andora and Isla White; brother, Bill; sister, Patti Skuba (Dennis); sister-in-law, Maggie Macy; Goddaughter, Erin McKenzie; great-nephew, Michael McKenzie; and many other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 12th, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 400 St. John's Ave., Green Cove Springs, FL. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Sarah Minton.
