James “Buddy” Curtis Hinson Jr., born on November 10, 1960, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to his family.

Buddy was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he spent his early years before eventually settling in Palatka, Florida.

He spent his years working in the railcar industry, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and racing drag cars, and he was a devoted fan of Florida Gators football. He was also an avid painter and enjoyed spending time in his yard gardening.

Buddy was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his strong presence, his love for his family, and the way he always showed up when it mattered most. He was a strong-willed, determined, and stubborn man, but also deeply devoted to those he loved. He always looked out for others before himself and longed to feel loved and included. He made sure to never end a conversation without saying “I love you,” a reflection of the love he carried for those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carol Jones Bowman; his father, James Curtis Hinson Sr. (Jim); his sisters, Deborrah Messer and Sheila Hinson; and his daughter, Jennifer Hinson Khoraizat.

He is survived by his son, James Curtis Hinson III (Brandie), his daughter, Belinda Hall (Danny) and his grandchildren; Jasmyn Marcum, Bentley Hinson, Skyann Hinson, Leighton Hinson, Cayson Hinson, Ember Hinson, Brayden Weaver, Cole Weaver, Becca Hall, Talia Powell, Zaina Khoriazat, and Ali Khoriazat.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel, with burial to immediately follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery and Reverend Mitch Perry officiating. Food and fellowship will follow at 1:30pm at Roger That Wings and Things.

He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
