James Israel Baxter

May 8, 1934 — November 8, 2021

James Israel Baxter passed over into his new Heavenly home on November 8, 2021 to join family and friends that have gone on before.

He was born May 8, 1934, in Palm Harbor, Florida, to Tillman and Della Baxter. He was married to Ina Mae Baxter. He raised seven children (4 daughters and three sons): Cindy (Walter) Strobel, Bobby Robertson, Sharon (Jimmy) Monahan, Tami Sermons, Bruce (Leonora) McKinney, Pam (Gary) Ragsdale, Steve (Suzan) McKinney. He loved and was very much loved by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four siblings, one son, one daughter, and one great-grandson.

He served in the United States Navy as a boiler tender aboard the USS Wasp and was a boiler tender/Plank owner aboard the USS Lexington. Upon completion of his service, he was a heavy equipment operator/mechanic until he retired. He loved repurposing old metal into knives and giving them to anyone that might appreciate his simple heart-felt country gift. He was a loving, God-fearing man and was ready to meet his Lord and Savior! He will be missed by all he left behind, but Heaven has gained a loving soul!
