Born August 17, 1935, in Rockmart, Georgia. Jack Singleton, 86, passed away on August 28, 2021. Jack was awarded a full baseball scholarship to attend North Georgia College and after completing his BS Degree in Business Administration he was drafted from college into MLB and continued playing professional baseball even after joining the US Army team when he enlisted. Baseball was very dear to Jack’s heart and he enjoyed the game throughout his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 serving as a Transportation Officer, ultimately attaining the rank of Captain. After service in the Army he worked as a supervisor for many years with Webco Tires in Jacksonville, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carmen; one son, Stanley Jackson Singleton; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
To his family and everyone who knew him, Jack was a man of courage and conviction who put his Lord Jesus and family first. He will be remembered for the loyalty he showed his beloved Georgia Bulldogs; the great food he happily prepared for family and friends; and his joy in reading and teaching God’s Word to anyone listening. We will all miss Jack’s sweet spirit.
The family will receive friends at a Celebration of his life with full military honors. The Celebration will be held at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 US-17, Fleming Island, FL, on Saturday, September 25, at 11:00 A.M.
It was Jack’s wish that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Pets for Patriots, a program sponsored by the Clay County No Kill Shelter. Donations can be made at the shelter, 2913 CR220, Middleburg, FL, 904-375-9122, or online at www.petsforpatriots.org .
