INGEBORG MARGARETE WESTMORELAND

August 27, 1927 – August 21, 2026

Ingeborg Margarete Westmoreland, 98, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the Moosehaven Health Care Center in Orange Park, Florida.

Born on August 27, 1927, in Gorlitz, Germany, Inge was the daughter of Frederich and Martha Bluemel.

On September 3, 1986, in South Carolina, Inge married the love of her life, Mr. James ‘Jim’ Westmoreland. They spent 39 beautiful years supporting and caring for each other.

Inge became a member of Colonial Heights, VA Lodge #1783, Chapter 131 on November 22, 1987. Throughout her years of membership, she faithfully supported the Moose fraternity and formed countless lifelong friendships.

On March 13, 2012, Inge, with her husband Jim, retired to Moosehaven where they embraced the community and made it their home. Inge loved staying fit. She was an avid swimmer and walker. She loved the pool at Moosehaven and went regularly and walked daily until she couldn’t. She needed nor wanted for “things”. Her happiness came from spending time with family and friends. Always willing to lend a hand!

While Inge also loved cooking, gardening, and her beautiful crocheting, she will always be remembered here at Moosehaven playing bingo with such excitement and enthusiasm. She played right up to a few days before her passing!

One of Inge’s greatest achievements in life was coming to the United States approximately seventy years ago and working hard to proudly became an American citizen! She was so proud of this!

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jim Westmoreland of Orange Park, Fl, loving daughter, Brigitte (Rolf) Ritter of Hannover, Germany, her cherished niece, Brenda Carter of Chester, Virginia, and many cousins and friends throughout Germany, Virginia and her extended Moosehaven family. Inge was preceded in death by her parents Frederich and Martha Bluemel and her oldest daughter Garby Bluemel.

Inge will be remembered for her warm, caring heart and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on through her devoted husband Jim, and in the hearts of her family, friends, and fellow Moose members.
