Ian Beckett Baird, 47, of Fleming Island, Florida, died April 5, 2025 at his residence.

Ian was born April 14, 1977 in Mt Laurel, New Jersey and later moved with his family to Connecticut where he attended Central Elementary, and Henry James Memorial Junior High School. He graduated from Simsbury High School where he played basketball and was a part of the JV and Varsity soccer teams including vying for a state championship. Ian worked summers landscaping on Nantucket and played soccer for the Cisco Brewery team.

After attending Cuesta College in San Louis Obispo, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Marketing from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. After training in Cape May, NJ, Ian served his Country with the Coast Guard from 2003-2009 where he was stationed in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He served in various locations on the eastern seaboard including the New York Harbor after the terrorist attacks and in the harbors of cities holding Presidential conventions. His Gloucester crew performed numerous Search and Rescue and coastal protection missions.

Although he started his career working in telephony sales, he much preferred more independent and physically active roles that didn’t require he wear a suit or sit behind a desk. He worked for many years in freight logistics for Ocean Air in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. After relocating to Florida in 2014 he continued his work in Construction supply and most recently was a building materials Crane Truck operator for ABC Supply Company.

In 2008 Ian met his wife, Bee in Connecticut and pursued her to her home in Thailand the following year. They were married in 2010 and were married at their favorite restaurant “The Mill on the River” in South Windsor, Connecticut. They worked together to make Bee a United States citizen. Bee continued to work on her second BA and graduated with a degree in Biomedical Science in 2022. They have two sons; Winston is 11 and Wyatt is 6.

Ian and Bee traveled frequently to Thailand to visit friends and family and to let the boys experience the beauty of that country. Ian was a full-time soccer Dad for both boys and loved the sport he had played since he was 5. He loved to take the boys down to our creek to catch fish and look for crawdads. The family enjoyed many of the natural wonders of Florida as well as its theme parks.

Ian is survived by his wife, Beenapa, his two sons Winston and Wyatt; his mother Nancy Baird of Middleburg, Florida; his sister Rebecca Smith and her family Walt, Shauna and Connor Silva of Coventry, CT; and the many friends who were touched by his generous soul.

Ian was predeceased by his beloved stepfather Bud Lustenberger.
