Helen Marie Blaskis, age 95, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away peacefully May 21, 2026, at Spring Gardens Fleming Island. She was born on December 3, 1930, in Grand Haven Michigan to Rudolph and Margaret (Kundelius) Hodal. She married the love of her life, William (Bill) Blaskis, on April 25, 1953.

Helen graduated from Mercy Central School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as an RN at Mercy Hospital and then for the Ottawa County Health Department as a Public Health Nurse. She was very proud to have been involved with the Salk Polio Vaccine trials in the schools. After having children, she became a full-time volunteer with their activities. Later, she loved being involved in her Grandchildren’s lives and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments.

She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Fleming Island, participating in Eucharistic, Homebound, Prayer Blanket Ministries, and a member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW). She had been an avid golfer with a low handicap, spending many hours on the course with her husband. She also loved gardening and knitting.

She is survived by her children Mark (Diane) Blaskis of Elliston VA and Meg Wolfner of Fleming Island. Four grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Wolfner, Bill (Connie) Blaskis, Michelle (Caleb) Braun, and Ruth Blaskis. One great-granddaughter Arabella Blaskis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Blaskis, one son (John), her parents, and three sisters-Margaret Hodal, Emilie (H. Ralph) Nelson, and Bertha (Joseph) Bakale.

A Funeral Mass will be offered for Helen on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fleming Island. Father Donal Sullivan will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Fleming Island.

The Family would like to share their deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff at Spring Gardens of Fleming Island and Community Hospice & Palliative Care of Clay County.
