Grace M. Carlisle

April 6, 1927 — December 25, 2020

Grace M. Carlisle, age 93, of Green Cove Springs, Florida went to meet our heavenly father on December 25, 2020.  Grace was born in Mount Pleasant, Florida on April 6, 1927. 

Grace graduated from Clay High School in 1945. Marrying George L. Carlisle in 1944, between her junior and senior year of high school, George and Grace began raising their family in Green Cove Springs.  George was elected as Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller in 1957 Grace worked as his Chief Deputy Clerk and together they served the citizens of Clay County for 32 years.  Grace was a member of the First United Methodist Church in GCS.  She was also a member of the Green Cove Springs Elks Club, the Florida Sheriff’s Association, the Village Improvement Association, and an honorary member of the Clay County Fair Board. 

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lela Martin, husband, George L. Carlisle, son, Gary G. Carlisle, Sr, 9 siblings, brothers Winton Martin, Herbert Martin, William Luther Martin (WL), sisters Clara Chesser, Louise Rosenbush Ritter, Lola Martin, Jewel Wood, Alice McEachin and sibling who died at birth.  She is survived by her son Terry J. Carlisle (Brenda), daughter Linda Carlisle Burkhalter (David), both of Green Cove Springs, Florida, grandchildren, Tracie McRae (Jesse), Greg Carlisle, Gary G. Carlisle, Jr. (Carrie), Martin Carlisle, Nikki Rhoden Lamm, Kevin Carlisle (Katie) and Randy Rhoden (Anna), 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida.
