George Frederick Hutchings, age 70, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on July 30, 2026. George was born in Harlem, New York to John Williams and Betty-Jeanne Nixon on June 10, 1956.

George attended elementary and high school in New York City and later attended Syracuse University where he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. After a short time at Syracuse, he joined the US Army and completed his basic training in 1976 where he trained as a paratrooper.

After some years in the Army, he later took residence in Jacksonville, FL and completed his bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville University and served the public as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation caseworker.

George enjoyed music, television, movies and working out with his friends at the gym. George leaves many family members and friends to mourn including his stepson Kevin Hutchings of Texas and his family. He also leaves behind his sister Pamela Pettyjohn of Brooklyn, NY and her children Nicole Atkins, David Hutchings and Danielle Hutchings. George had a host of friends he made in Jacksonville where he spent his last years.

George will be interred on August 21, 2026, at 2:30 at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL. 32218. He will be missed by his family and friends.
