Captain George Harley Duskin, USNR, passed away peacefully at his home on Doctors Lake, surrounded by his family, on August 28, 2026. George was born on May 10, 1939, in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Stephen and Diana Duskin. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Claire McAnaney Duskin; his daughter, Ann Duskin Chauffe; his son-in-law, Ryan Chauffe; and his granddaughters, Alexis Duskin, and Katherine & Keira Chauffe. George was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stephen Briggs Duskin, U.S. Army Special Forces, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012; and by his grandson, Jacob Harley Duskin, a former U.S. Army Ranger, who died of natural causes in January of 2026.

George was the eldest of seven children: Douglas (deceased), Dorothy, Margaret, Stephen, Daniel (deceased) & Priscilla Duskin, and is remembered as an older brother who loved and supported his siblings. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of West Florida and went on to serve his country with as a decorated Naval Aviator flying A1s, A4s and A7s. He received three Distinguished Flying Crosses for his service during the Vietnam War but considered his greatest mission to be bringing his squadron mates home safely.

After over 30 years of military service, George retired from the Navy. He continued his life in aviation as a commercial pilot during a tumultuous time for airlines, flying for Air Florida, Midway, Braniff, Morris Air and finally Southwest Airlines. George lived a full and vibrant life, marked by curiosity, skill, and a love of hands-on pursuits. He found great joy in spending time with friends that were like family, piloting his experimental aircraft, skeet shooting, boating, and tinkering with his many automobile projects. He will be remembered for the deep pride he took in serving both his country and the people he loved.

A celebration of George’s life is currently being planned. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
