IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances
Wolcott
June 3, 1944 – October 5, 2025
Frances Virginia Wolcott, age 81, of Orange Park, FL passed away on October 5, 2025.
Frances was born to Cora Evelyn of Hopewell, Virginia, and James Howard West Sr. of Petersburg, Virginia. After graduating from Norview High School, she married the love of her life, George Allen Wolcott Sr., and together they built a beautiful life over 51 years of marriage.
Lovingly known as "Mawmaw" Frances was deeply loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed Wednesday lunches with friends and treasured time spent with her family. Her love for Elvis Presley was unmatched; her collection had no end. Frances enjoyed playing games with her family and will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the love she shared so freely. She was a listener, a helper, and a constant presence for those she cared about. She loved every animal she met—dogs, cats, strays, and the forgotten ones—each one touched by her boundless compassion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wolcott Sr.; her sister, Judith Hilty; and her parents, Cora and James West.
Frances is survived by her sons, George Allen Wolcott Jr. (wife Lora) of Yulee, FL and Howard “Jerry” Wolcott of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Larissa Dryden, Shane Wolcott, Jerri Lynn Mattingly, and Christa Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Landan, Gavin, Rowan, Holdan, Gabby, Devon, Camron, Hailee, Austin, Klowe, Emilee, and Piper; brother, James West; and nieces, Amy Hilty, Eleanor, and Emily.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
