Eugene Lloyd Lacy, Jr.

Eugene Lloyd Lacy, Jr. passed from this life on May 26, 2021, surrounded by family in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was born on June 20, 1944 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to Eugene Lloyd Lacy, Sr. and Mildred Angela Novy Lacy. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1962 and attended Oklahoma University, receiving a B.A. in History in 1967. He served as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam at the rank of Captain, and later as a Major in the Army Reserves. After leaving the active Army, he went on to serve the United States Government for twenty years as a pilot, concentrating in Africa and Central America. He distinguished himself many times over the years with a multitude of awards and medals, including The Army Commendation Medal, The Bronze Star, and The Air Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Jeri Lynn Lacy, of the home in Fleming Island, Florida, his sister and her husband, Sherry and Ron Sullivan, of Duncan, Oklahoma, his step-daughters and husband, Mindy and Chris Hopkins, of Orange Park Florida, and Misty North of Middleburg, Florida, his niece and her husband, Melanie and Mark Schucker, of Elgin, Oklahoma, his nephew, Matthew McClintock, of Tampa, Florida, step-grandchildren: Traeton Hopkins, Lincoln North, Lana North, and Lily North, Grandnieces Sydney Schucker and Ember Schucker, and Grandnephew Jack Schucker.

He was pre-deceased by his father and mother, Major (Retired) Eugene Lloyd Lacy, Sr., Mildred Angela Lacy, brother, George Vincent Lacy, and sister, Marilyn Jean Lacy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Later services will be held in Hinton, Oklahoma, with burial in the El Reno cemetery family plot.
